Life is full of serendipitous twists and turns, and Fig Love is a child of happy moments.

In 2016, Fig Love emerged from the lush forests and rocky coastlines of Vancouver Island. Fig was first Fig Clothing and Jewellery, which opened in a humble 300-square-foot space in Nanaimo, B.C. It was home to a bounty of pearls and beads from Mexico, and the stunning Om Grown line of clothing made by friends on neighbouring Salt Spring Island. Founder Heather Macleod discovered love in this little space, surrounded by sustainable clothing and all the beautiful customers who slowly but surely started to trickle through the front door.

The momentum was undeniable. A steadfast focus on providing a wide range of sizes so all friends could shop together — whether they were size XS or XXXL — drove us from the very first day we opened. Over time, designers began to pop up in the shop. Fig welcomed Nomads Hempwear, Brenda Laine Designs and Diane Kennedy. One day, surrounded by six women and a large poodle, Heather decided it was time to go big or go home.

The store's present location became available at the perfect time, and Fig Love emerged from the transition. Adena joined to help out in the bigger space, and together we incorporated our business.

As our designs keep expanding, we remain committed to upholding our founding ideals: local, sustainable, size-inclusive.

We love what Fig is becoming, and together we’re thrilled to provide a safe space for all sizes, genders, ethnicities, backgrounds, faiths and fabulousness. We invite you to step into our shop at 70 Church Street and discover for yourself what Fig Love is all about.
