Frequently Asked Questions

What is Hemp?
Hemp was the first plant used for textiles, and isn't anything new! This wonderful plant has been grown since 8000 BC. Hemp is the common name used for Cannabis plants that are grown primarily for their fiber content which can be utilized for a variety of purposes (from textiles, to fuels, to foods for humans and animals alike). However, nearly a century of misinformation and competing industrial interests have left this truly valuable crop in the shadows.
Hemp fiber is antimicrobial, anti-mildew and provides Ultra Violet (UV) protection from the sun, with a natural UV Factor of SPF 15. One of the strongest, most durable and ecologically friendly fabrics, hemp is an extremely fast growing crop, producing more fiber per yield of acre than any other source, and can be grown without the need of harmful herbicides and pesticides or irrigation. Hemp clothing insulates and breathes, helping you stay cool in summer, and warm in winter.

Why Bamboo?
A natural textile made from the pulp of bamboo grass. The Bamboo used to produce fabrics is easily replenished and is 100% naturally grown—without assistance from humans! Bamboo is considered one of the most sustainable plants because it grows quickly and does not require chemicals, pesticides, fertilizers or irrigation, and biodegrades more quickly than oil-based synthetics. Bamboo is a choice for clothing that is not only better for the environment, but also better for you. It has benefits such as its being naturally anti-static as well as comfortably soft.

Bamboo rayon is made by dissolving pulp bamboo into its cellulose component and then spun into viscose fibers. Clothing made of bamboo rayon typically lasts even longer and holds its shape even better than clothing made of simple bamboo fibers.

How do you choose your designers?
We work with many talented Canadian designers, with an emphasis on West Coast designers and ethical production. Many of our designers produce locally on Vancouver Island, or on the Lower Mainland of BC. Some have developed ethical factories or fair trade partnerships overseas. We look for a variety of comfortable, beautiful and ethical clothing that will make you feel great about supporting local artists, small business, and best of all, loving what you wear!

What sizes do you carry?
We are 100% body positive, and carry sizes XXS-3X. We strongly believe that body size should not cause segregation...don't you think that you should be able to shop with friends of all different sizes? WE DO! If we don't have your size in stock, talk to us, and we'll get you sorted. Not all of our brands cover all sizes...some are geared toward the curvy, and some are more specific to smaller sizes. We collect all of these brands to make an experience that honors all bodies in all stages of life.
