The Print — Light Gets In

Inspired by Leonard Cohen’s timeless words — “There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in” — this design celebrates resilience, imperfection, and the beauty of what makes us whole.

The artwork was created from fragments of 18th-century Delft tiles, including two intricate Italianate landscapes. The delicate cracks and imperfections of the original ceramics were intentionally preserved — a reflection of how our own experiences, challenges, and flaws become part of our story, letting the light through in unexpected ways.

The trim patterns are borrowed from history too: one from an 1867 British book of classical ornamentation, the other from a hand-painted Dutch earthenware plaque dating back to 1780. Together, they form a print that feels both timeless and tender — a wearable reminder that beauty often lives in the broken places.
